A large house from the Neolithic period was dsicovered by archaeologists from the Bulgarian-Greek joint science team which has been working in the region “Halka bunar”. The site is between the villages Partizanin and Gorno Belevo, near the town of Chirpan. This was announced by the chief scientist Milena Tonkova from the National Archaeology institute, the leader of the Bulgarian team. According to her, the house dates back to the 6th century BC and is a unique find, because besides its devastated walls there are saved pieces of fine utensils which reveal a lot about life in those times. The house will be further analyzed by experienced experts. The ancient house is located near clay houses which were part of ancient Thracian village, dating back to the early Neolith period (5-3d century BC). Ornamented cults, resembling those in Sevtopolis, Kabile and Philippolis, were also found in the houses. 10 Bulgarian and Greek archaeologists have been working on the project “The research of relations between Greeks and Thracians in the Antiquity” since the beginning of the month. The project will take up 5 years to be completed.
