Bulgarian's trips abroad, foreigners' trips to Bulgaria grow

Bulgarians' trips abroad in September totalled 366,000 which was 3.2 per cent more than this time last year, the National Statistical Institute said. During the same time, visits to Bulgaria by foreigners grew by 3 per cent to 1,049,200. An increase in travel by Bulgarians is reported for Canada (30.3 per cent), Greece (23.8 per cent), the US (17.8 per cent), Israel (16 per cent), Slovakia (14.6 per cent), Romania (11.5 per cent) and Spain (8.9 per cent). A decrease is reported for Ireland (12 per cent), Turkey (10.6 per cent), Austria (3.4 per cent) and Macedonia (3 per cent).
The biggest share of overseas trips by Bulgarians were business trips (37.7 per cent), followed by "other purposes" (35.4 per cent) and holiday and recreation (26.9 per cent). The foreigners-to-Bulgaria statistics shows the biggest increase for transits through Bulgaria (1.5 per cent). Visits by EU citizens grew by 1.7 per cent from this time last year as the increase was most significant for Czechs and Danes (10.6 and 10, respectively). A decrease is registered for Estonians (15.8), Malta (11.7) and Finland (9). Visits by citizens of the group of "Other European Countries" increased by 7 per cent. The increase was most significant for Ukrainians (24.7 per cent), Russia (24 per cent) and Serbia (11 per cent). In September, the biggets share was held by visits for holiday and recreation ( 49.4 per cent), followed by transits (27.1 per cent), business trips (12.8 per cent) and "Other Purposes" (10.7 per cent).
