According to Minister of Economy Traicho Traikov, Bulgaria will see better ski season this year than the previous one. Traikov monitors closely the figures and he is assigned to taking care of the development of Bulgaria's tourism. He stated that Bulgaria expects at least 3% increase in revenue and some tour operators expect even a 10% increase. The minister believes that the ski season will be a successful one, because Bulgaria has already implemented a proper strategy to develop many crucial tourism aspects. For instance, a recent research revealed that in terms of winter holidays, Bulgaria proudly competes abreast with Austria. The Bulgarian minister commented that the country expects guests from all over Europe, including neighboring countries like Greece, Macedonia and especially Romania. The latter are particularly attracted by Bulgaria’s ski resorts, because they offer high quality services and high standard of service.
Traikov also attended the opening of ski season 2010/2011 in Bulgaria's biggest winter resort Bansko. He met some wine producers and expressed his belief that Bulgaria can position itself as one of the leading wine producers worldwide. Since Bulgaria has long traditions in the field, Bulgarian producers have much to offer and Bulgarian wines can boost the image of Bulgaria as a tourism destination.
