Anita Valentinova, 10.12.2010

Hoteliers in Pamporovo , Chepelare and Smolyan expect a growth of 10-20% of the tourists who will visit Bulgaria during the new winter season. The tourism business in the region forecasts more successful ski season compared to the last year’s one. After the ant crisis measures that the hotels in the region has adopted, hoteliers focused on the active marking campaign in order to attact more tourists from the neighbouring Balkan countries and Russia, as well as reduction of the prices and the provision of extra services in the present quotations. Hotels in Chepelare reduced their prices by 10%. Although we have not overcome the crisis yet, it has become clear that two new hotels will open doors in the beginning of the winter season. The newest investment in Pamporovo is the lighting along the length of the track ‘Stenata’ which starts from Snezhanka Peak. Thus, fans of night skiing will enjoy their experience in full. The official opening of the winter season in Pamporovo is be held on 18th of December and all guests of the ski resort will take advantage of free ski lift passes. Also, Pamporovo offers a 50% discount of the ski lift passes. The promotion is valid from 19th until 23rd of December 2010. The CEO of Pamporovo announced that the prices of ski lift passes remain unchanged and therefore a day pass will cost about 25 EUR. The prices of all overnights are dropped by 10-17%.

It is expected that the ski school in Pamporovo will see more enthusiasts and the growth is predicted to be nearly 12%. Also, the growth is expected to be a result mainly of British groups. Pamporovo will see holidaymakers mainly from UK and Ireland, but new markets as Poland and Romania have also emerged this year. Experts are optimistic that many Russian, Macedonian and Greek skiers will also increase their interest in Bulgaria’s winter resorts this year.
