Chepelare to turn into all-year round destination

Rhodopes Mountain is a marvelous mountain both in winter and summer season. The impressive nature and the natural, ecological foods, as well as the customs of the local people, rich traditions and unique cuisine are attractive for the keen visitor. Thus, this mountainous region can be turned into all-year round tourist destination. The mayor of the region announced that the main focus in the summer will be on the alternative tourism and eco tourism. Moreover, more than 30 routes have been already constructed, all of which are very intriguing and well-signed. They include not only natural, but also archaeological landmarks such as “Roman road”(“Rimskiq put”), “The ancient road of Avdira “ and so on. The longest route included in the project, which will be a result of the teamwork of several municipalities, is to start from Rhodopes Municipality to Xanthi in Greece. It passes through Chepelare, Smolyan, Banite, Rudozem and end in Greece. Last but not least attractive routes with bicycle alleys will be built. In order to satisfy the needs of the extreme sports lovers, the new tourism strategy foresees the opportunities for ATB tracks.
