Hunting Tourism

The number of tourists who visited Bulgaria to sport hunting has doubled on a year-on-year basis, according to official data presented at the International Nature, Hunting, Fishery Expo in Plovdiv, south Bulgaria. Nearly 5,000 people hunted in Bulgarian forests last year, compared to 2,405 the previous one, with an increasing percentage of Bulgarian hunters, Agriculture Minister Nihat Kabil said. The returns from hunting tourism, standing at about EUR 1.8 M, have been reinvested in the sector, officials said. The international exhibition organised under the auspices of the Agriculture Ministry will continue until April 3. Participants include 149 companies, including 100 Bulgarian and 49 foreign ones. see source
