Tourists have recently been interested in landmarks of Belogradchik

Anita Valentinova, 25.02.2008

Because of sunny days in Bulgaria, significant number of tourists have visited the town of Belogradchik. The Belogradchik fortress and The Magura cave were visited by about 70 tourists only during the past weekend. There more individual tourists than groups, but this tendency is expected to be changed in the near future. The history of this medieval town is very interesting for tourists-the foundations of the today’s town are laid during the period of Second Bulgarian Kingdom, the remains of clay furnaces(12th-14th century), a water-main, building materials and especially a coin discovery, consisting of 13 silver coins of Ivan Aleksandar and his son Mihail, talk about a big economic activity. Most of tourists who visit Belogradchik now are from Greece, Russia and England. Entrance fee for landmarks of Belogradchik is not changed and its price is absolutely reasonable. If you decide to travel to Belogradchik, you should see the sights of Magura Cave, The Belogradchik rocks, the Astronomical observatory of the Institute of Astronomy to the Bulgarian Academy of Science, the Museum of History and the art gallery. The forest’s scent, fresh mountain air and the calm atmosphere are some of reasons that make you visit this fascinating place!
