Bulgaria Outstrips Romania in Winter Tourism
The Standart Daily, 16.11.2006
While the Bulgarian authorities are showered with foreign investors' projects for infrastructure development of mountainous resorts, Romania is still just waiting for such plans. After the summer season, when Bulgaria outstripped Romania, now Bulgaria is teaching us lessons on mountain tourism as foreign investors queue to invest in Bulgaria.
Investment projects amounting at about 700 million each are under implementation there, while in Romania there is only one such project - at the total cost of 130 million euro that is still researched and will stay for long in the administration's desks. Matters are managed well in Romania only on paper. Theoretically, the project of the Romanian Government "Skiing in the Carpathians" avails of 130 million euro budget. In practice, though, the project implementation will hardly start soon, bearing in mind 2006 is devoted to researches and technical projects.
Meanwhile the Bulgarian authorities consider to implement Super Bansko project that envisages a tourist zone, including a couple of resorts, to surround the gem of Bulgarian mountainous tourism - Bansko.
