Champions League trophy arrives in Bulgaria

Sofia Echo, 12.10.2009

Former Danish international and Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel will arrive in Bulgaria with the Champions League trophy on October 14 2009, a UniCredit press release said on October 13 2009. The trophy will first be exhibited in the northeastern riverside town of Rousse in the main square at 11am on October 14. The cup will then be taken straight to Sofia. It will not travel to any other place in the country. Once in the capital, the trophy will be placed outside the National Theatre Ivan Vazov on October 17 and 18 with free access for all. On Saturday, fans are welcome between 12pm and 8pm whereas on Sunday, the cup will be displayed between 9am and 9pm. Bulgarian football fans will be able to see Europe's most prominent football trophy for the first time on home soil - touch it, picture themselves with it, and meet the legendary Danish goal keeper. The trophy's tour across Europe has been organised with the assistance of UniCredit, Dnevnik daily said. Before its arrival in Bulgaria, the Big Ears trophy was shown to football fans in Milan, Budapest, Zagreb and Bucharest.
