Nature and culture are the emblems of Smolyan City
An exhibition, dedicated to Smolyan City, was arranged by the regional library. Books, photos and editions with information for the city a couple of years ago, are included in the first part of the exhibition “Smolyan-in the past and now”.
A decree for the unification of the three villages Smolyan, Raikovo and Ustovo in one city can be seen in the second part. What is interesting to be seen is the great variety of colourful photos from different periods of Smolyan’s development.
The Planetarium is attractive for foreigners
Around 28 000 guests from Bulgaria and abroad visited the Planetarium in Smolyan from the beginning of the year until the end of July. Greeks and English are the most often visitors of the popular landmark of Smolyan.
Dora Qnkova, the mayor of Smolyan, said that the modernization of the city and its infrastructure is one of the most important priorities for the residents, as well as the quality of life.
Tourism plays key role in Smolyan region and people invest in its development. The mayor announced that Smolyan Municipality supports eco and rural tourism, which are developed along Arda River, Momchilovtsi area and the region Shiroka Luka. Mrs. Dobreva said that she is proud of the socialization of the famous archaeological object “Momchilova Krepost”. All regulations of Smolyan Lakes, Raikovski Livadi and Haidushki Polqni will have been put in practice by the end of the spring.
“The wonderful nature and rich culture should remain emblems of Smolyan”, said the Director of the Dramatic Theatre of the Rhodopes.
Smolyan has all prerequisites for becoming one of the cultural centers of Bulgaria, because it is the cultural center of the Rhodopes. The city possesses wonderful cultural complex-a gallery, a museum, a library and unique theatre.
