Bourgas city and St. Anastasia Island will be connected through sea route

Bourgas will be linked to the island of St. Anastasia through a sea route, announced Deputy Mayor Yordanka Ananieva. The idea is about to be put into practice after the Council of Ministers has provided Bourgas Municipality withthe attractive piece of sea land in the sea.
The major goal is to turn the historic and cultural heritage into a favourite spot for tourists. The municipality will invest funds in the restoration of archaeological finds and historic sites. The municipality will mainly concentrate on the restoration of the monastery and the church, boasting impressive murals that are kept in a bad condition. The island will be included in a tour. The starting point will be the square ‘St.st. Cyril and Methodius’ which lies beyond the bridge at the beach. If Bourgas municipality receives a funding, the reconstruction of all buildings and the harbour will be started in the beginning of 2011.
St. Anastasia Island is a cultural monument of national significance and therefore no construction will be allowed, only restoration processes will be in progress. Bourgas mayor has expressed his satisfaction that the municipality has a control over archaeological and historic sites that can become an attractive tourist destination, a centre of the culture and glorious history.
