Balkan Youth Festival in Sandanski

The Balkan Youth Festival “THE BALKAN YOUTH” is the biggest international youth event in Southeastern Europe. It will be held for 9th consecutive year in Sandanski from the 9th till 14th September 2009. As the motto of the festival tells itself “The youth on the Balkans today, a future for Europe tomorrow!”, the main goal of this music and artistic event is to reveal the youth potential on the Balkan Peninsula and Europe to the society and to prove the point that cooperation between people of different cultures is possible. The BYF has interwoven the unification and diversity, and it provides atmosphere for youths to express themselves and develop their creation, but also to establish new relationships or expand the existing ones, and exchange useful information, facilitate the acquaintance, as well as organize discussions with regards to actual problems and concerns. 600 participants are expected to attend the 14th edition of the festival as about 250 of them are foreign guests. They will participate in the festival performances and will show skills in different spheres and thus represent the striving of youths to overcome the differences and get to know each other whilst having fun.

The following initiatives are included in the program of 14th Balkan Youth Festival:

Intercultural exchange – The events are influenced by the conception of informal education-trainings, dialogues. An exemplary event is the music project “Yes: Youth European Soundtrack” which gathers rock musicians from eight countries, who will discuss and compose together a movie soundtrack.
Youth artists
Concerts – Festive performances in Sandanski with the participation of more than 400 people – folklore ensembles and groups, pop and rock singers and groups, presenting modern dances from Bulgarian and abroad.
