Sozopol develops new route for religious tourism

Sozopol Municipality develops a tourist route that will show local chapels, said the mayor of Bulgaria’s Black Sea resort. The starting point of the tourist route will be the new chapel ‘St. Nicholas the Miracle Worker’ , which is located next to the Archaeological Museum in Sozopol. The route will continue to the chapels ‘St. St. Cyril and Methodius’, ‘St. George’, ‘ St. Virgin Mary’, ‘St. St. Constantine and Elenao and will reach the art gallery. The municipality hopes that the route should have been finished by 2011.
Activities, regarding the restoration of a part of the fortress wall of the town, should be completed within 1-2 days. This year will be a special one, because Sozopol will celebrate 2620 years since it was founded and therefore guests should expect more diverse cultural program in the summer resort. The most important date in the calendar will be 17th of July-the day of Saint Marina who is considered as the protector of Bulgaria’s coastal resort.
