Anita Valentinova, source: horemag.bg, 21.10.2010

A new tourism information centre will be opened at the old Turkish post office in Vidin on 22nd October 2010. The tourism centre is aimed at servicing guests and residents of the town in accordance with the Danube strategy. The renovation of the “Krastata Kazarma” museum and “Kaleto” is expected to start next year. The main goal of the project is to develop the cultural and historical sights in Vidin, as well as a part of the Vidin fortress “Kaleto’’. Thus, the unique fortification system will be transformed into a tourism attraction of local and national significance. The renovation of the building of the “Krastata Kazarma” (cross-shaped barracks) is evaluated at 1.75 million BGN. The project should have been completed by July 2012.

Another tourism centre will open doors in “Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarev” high school in the town. It will provide all visitors with advertisement brochures and badges with Vidin landmarks. Over 2000 books in English, Bulgarian and Italian will present the popular areas in Vidin region that are suitable for hunting and fishing. All promotional papers will be distributed in tourism centres, tour operators and institutions in Bulgaria and abroad.
