Anita Valentinova, source: NextBgTrip.com, 22.10.2010

Vidin municipality expects a 20% increase in the number of tourists in Vidin after the project for the reconstruction of “Kaleto” fortress has been completed. The local administration has already received approval for the financing under the operation program “Regional development”.

The main goal of the project is to transform the site into an attractive tourism destination. Hence, Kaleto fortress will become a preferred landmark for cultural and historic sightseeing of the preserved fortification walls, a ditch and the gates “Enichar” and “Florentin”. The ditch will be filled with water. The access to the fortress will be provided by a movable wooden bridge.

Animators will present important moments of the history of Vidin from Antiquity until today. Attractions and sports equipment will be also constructed. The project also envisages the construction of an amphitheater for plays and performances. Audio guide system will provide tourists with information translated in 6 languages.
