I was very impressed with the food yes it not British but the guess what your not in Britain. I found the staff to be very helpfull. The room was very clean only moan was that i was next to the lift so there was a small amount of noise.

Hotel Pirin is set in the older part of Bansko, away from the mass building work of hotel complexes nearer to the gondola station. Therefore, pleasant evenings can be spent sampling the lovely nearby restaurants and bars where one is always guaranteed a warm, friendly welcome (children too!). These places are so rustic, colourful and comfortable that we really couldn't understand why they were not busier. It would seem that people staying in the newer part of Bansko (which, quite frankly, resembles a war-zone) do not realise that it is possible to have fun skiing and sample Bulgarian culture too.
We found the Hotel Pirin incredibly clean and comfortable. The staff were always ready to help and were friendly and courteous.
After a day's skiing, the sauna and steam room were most relaxing and our children loved the pool. The whole area is spotlessly clean and fresh towels are available by the pool every day. White towelling gowns are available to wear in the pool area which gives it a spa feel.
As for the food, we didn't eat out at all as there really was no need. I'm vegetarian and found that there was always a vegetarian soup starter and a nice salad so I was more than happy. A word of advice though, grab your pudding early as they tend to go quickly. Maybe the buffet- style selection could be better presented, but it is tasty and goes down well with a bottle of Chateau Carbenat from the bar! The breakfasts were great with plenty of choice. My son tended to eat so much that it was only necessary for him to have a light lunch at midday to keep him going till dinner.
On the last night a Bulgarian band entertained us as we ate in the restaurant.
There was plenty of snow for skiing. I thoroughly enjoyed the gondola ride up the mountain and the blue run down back into Bansko is a must... just a bit muddy at the end.

The hotel itself is very pretty - built along the lines of an Alpine Chalet. It is worth paying the 12 lev extra to upgrade to a superior room with air conditioning and bath. The rooms are also much bigger and most have a balcony. The standard double rooms are rather poky and stuffy in the summer as the weather then is very hot!
The indoor swimming pool is large and leads out to a pretty garden with sunbeds where you can sunbathe. There is also a sauna, steamroom and solarium.
The downsides of this hotel are the staff and the food. Unfortunately the staff are rather sullen, sometimes to the point of rudeness, and the food is bland to the point of tastless! Breakfast is always the same: fried eggs (cooked and left to congeal), scrambled eggs, a few chopped up bits of sausage and a few scraps of salad and bits of fruit. There is a coffee making machine and a machine which contains hot and cold water - but no tea bags (bring your own). The evening meal is little better. It's all pretty boring and don't bother to ask for bread because you'll get a slice of doughy supermarket bread and have to pay for it!
However the town of Bansko is full of excellent local taverns, which are cheaper than the hotel restaurant and 100 times better, so go there to eat.

A large hotel in the centre of Bansko, the Hotel Pirin appears to cater for skiers and tour groups. Comfortable, well run, with pleasant gardens - and all rather anonymous- it could be a large hotel almost anywhere. But at Eur 25 per night for a good sized room including breakfast it represents good value.
Hotel has its own enclosed car park.
The pedestrianised centre of Bansko is immediately across the road, offering a wide choice of bars, restaurants and open-air Mexana garden restaurants, all within a 5-minute walk.
