The city of Pomorie is situated 20 km away from Burgas. The city is built as a Greek colony named Anchialos at the end of the 5th century BC. The majority of its citizens were Thracians. Even nowadays half of the population of the city speaks fluent Greek. It's very typical to hear Greek music in the local restaurants. From its founding until the start of the 20th century Pomorie is one of the most important cities at the Bulgarian coast.
Pomorie is a nice place for family tourism. Because of its interesting infrastructure, beautiful and safe beaches, the city is a favorite place for families with small children. Some of the summer events in the city are "The Week of the Sea" and "Yavorov's Days". These events are celebrated with daily concerts and public arrangements, which are a nice surprise for the visitors.
